We have one of the largest teaching faculties in Canada, a diverse, talented and dedicated group of radiologists, clinicians, physicists and support staff that are key to the success of our program. Our six busy teaching sites (University of Alberta Hospital, Stollery Children’s Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Grey Nuns Hospital, Sturgeon Community Hospital and Cross Cancer Institute) ensure our residents receive a comprehensive experience in academic and community radiology. A huge referral base including all of Northern Alberta and most of Western Canada provides an extensive breadth of pathology. State-of-the-art imaging equipment includes dual source CT, PET-CT, SPECT-CT and digital mammographic units. A province-wide electronic health record, regional PACS and web-based teaching resources combine to provide a unique integrated learning environment. Recent innovations in residency education include community office rotations for our PGY-4 and 5 residents and a new PGY-2 introduction to ultrasound course in collaboration with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and Alberta Health Services.
