The minimum requirement for an MSc is 6 credit hours of graduate level coursework; however, additional courses may be required, depending on the area of specialization, the undergraduate background of the student, and recommendation of the supervisor or supervisory committee. Students must also complete and successfully defend a thesis. The minimum period of residence is two four-month terms of full-time attendance at the University of Alberta.
The time required to complete the MSc will vary with the individual candidate; however, a minimum of two years is normally required.
